Because it’s not just a quinceañera!! It’s watching my son and his wonderful friends be part of a tradition that has lived in our culture for centuries. It’s about the love that’s poured into this day by the family of the quinceañera. And it’s these these young boys and girls dancing together. The tenderness of it. The trust. Watching a young boy learn to lead with care. The way they look out for one another and make sure the other feels safe and seen. 😭😭😭 And thinking about our parents, our grandparents, all the celebrations that came before this one. There is something so special that one cannot put into words about watching our children inherit our traditions and make them their own. May I be Mexican, may I be Latina, in every lifetime, in every universe, under every star. ✨✨
