Drop a ❤️👇if you think breeding dogs for research needs to end!!! 🐶 NEW BILL WOULD TARGET BREEDING DOGS FOR RESEARCH A new bill in Congress is taking aim at the pipeline that breeds dogs specifically for research labs. 🐶🇺🇸 What’s happening: Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., introduced the Prohibiting Unethical Procedures on Pets in Science Act, or PUPPS Act, which would amend the Animal Welfare Act. The bill was introduced in the House and referred to the House Agriculture Committee. What it would do: The proposal would prohibit breeding dogs specifically for research and restrict commercial distribution of dogs for research, including selling, transporting and importing them. It also calls for licensing consequences and civil penalties for violations. One important distinction: This is a proposed bill, not current law, and it has only begun the legislative process.
