In 2016, at age 93, Ernie Andrus, inspired the nation by running nearly 3,000 miles coast-to-coast. Even after his running days were over, Ernie made a point of leaving his wheelchair and walking more than a mile on his birthday — all the way up to 103. Ernie passed peacefully in his sleep earlier this month.
