I’ve been laughing and crying and having the best conversations with Dani Shapiro @daniwriter for twenty years. Yesterday we sat down for an hour and talked about writing and life - how we met, following your instincts on and off the page, memoir, writing about people you love (or have other strong feelings about), story structure, playing with time, and your own timing, too. We talked about Signal Fires and Inheritance, and writing because it’s how you make sense of things. It was such a beautiful conversation, and Dani was so generous, but that’s just Dani.
