💗 Meet Mya Monday: Things Mya Says on Repeat 💗 If you spend any amount of time with Mya, there are a few questions you are GUARANTEED to hear… over and over and over again. Currently on repeat: 🎃 “What are you gonna be for Halloween?” 🚗 “Where are we going?” 🙋♀️ “Who’s picking me up?” ⚾️ “You coming to my game?” And when I say on repeat, I don’t mean she asks once or twice. You can answer her, and approximately 30 seconds later… she’s asking again. The funny thing is, a lot of the time Mya already knows the answer. She usually knows where we’re going or who is picking her up. But for her, asking again gives her reassurance that the plan is still the same. With autism, repetition can be a way of processing information, seeking predictability, or getting reassurance. Not knowing what’s coming next can be hard for Mya, so hearing the answer again helps her feel secure. Sometimes she’s making sure nothing has changed. Sometimes she’s excited and just wants to talk about it again. So when she asks, “Who’s picking me up?” for the 47th time, it’s usually not because she forgot the answer. She just wants the reassurance of hearing it again. 💗 And Halloween is currently VERY important business around here, so if Mya sees you anytime soon, you better have your costume picked out because she WILL ask. 😂🎃 Anyone else have a kiddo who gets a question or phrase stuck on repeat? What’s currently playing on repeat at your house? 💕 #intellectualdisability #intellectualdisabilityawareness #autism #autismacceptance #MyaMonday
