On the ballot this November, you'll have the chance to vote on how much you'll pay at the grocery store. In this installment of Props in 60 seconds, reporter Colton Krolak gives you the rundown on Prop 316. The legislative referendum would prevent cities and local governments from increasing sales taxes on groceries without voter approval and cap the tax at 2%, regardless of voter approval. Supporters of the measure believe this protects shoppers from being forced to pay taxes on the items they need to survive. Opponents say it will hurt cities and towns who rely on those taxes to fund the things they need like roads and public safety.
