Representation doesn't just inspire us — it expands our understanding of what's possible. In my conversation with Marc Morial, he reflected on watching Reverend Jesse Jackson run for president and seeing, perhaps for the first time, a new vision of what leadership could look like for him. That sense of possibility stayed with Marc throughout his own journey—from becoming Mayor of New Orleans to leading the National Urban League. What stayed with me from our conversation is the ripple effect of leadership. When someone has the courage to step forward, they aren't just creating change in that moment. They're making it easier for the next person to imagine themselves stepping forward too. Who leads matters. Being seen matters. And sometimes, seeing someone go first is all we need to believe we can be next. Tune in to my full conversation with Marc on The Power to Persist.
