❤️ SICKLE CELL FACT OF THE DAY Did you know the spleen plays an important role in protecting your body from certain infections? For people living with sickle cell disease, sickled red blood cells can affect blood flow in the spleen and damage it over time. This can cause the spleen to lose some or all of its normal function, making it harder for the body to fight certain serious infections. But PREVENTIVE CARE MATTERS! ❤️ Recommended vaccinations, regular medical care, and preventive antibiotics for some young children can provide important protection. The more we understand about sickle cell disease, the better we can advocate for Warriors and their families. ❤️ KNOWLEDGE PROTECTS. ❤️ AWARENESS EMPOWERS. ❤️ HOPE CHANGES LIVES. Together, we can make a difference.
