The Ed Sheeran x Macklemore situation has gotten bigger. After Macklemore spoke in support of Palestine during Sheeran’s tour, several venues reportedly objected to him performing. The tour promoter removed Macklemore from the remaining dates, while Sheeran says the decision wasn’t his and that he tried to find a compromise. Now, the remaining supporting acts (including FINNEAS, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga) have withdrawn from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore. At the heart of it all is a bigger question: where does an artist’s right to speak about their political views and beliefs end, and where does a venue’s right to control its event begin? #macklemore #edsheeran #gillettestadium
