I was SOOO EXCITED I had JUST WON PROM QUEEN! It was like a dream come true!! But I looked around that limo like, “Uh oh”😒 I could feel the weird energy instantly. I called my mom on that big ol’ block cell (yes, the one you weren’t supposed to use unless it was an emergency) and whispered, “Mom… I won!” She started screaming with joy, and I had to muffle it so my friend wouldn’t hear. That moment should’ve felt like magic… but instead I felt like I had to shrink just to keep the peace. Whew.
