Now that the World Cup is over, the final was played at Estadio Azteca, and Mexico came in second, it’s time to get back to reading. Our next book club pick is coming to you from the parking lot waiting for Oliver to finish practice…. This month we are reading The Intrigue by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and it just came out this week. If you know Silvia Moreno-Garcia, you know the worlds she creates are so good and luscious. Set in Veracruz, Mexico, in 1943, we meet a handsome con man who arrives at a boardinghouse planning to steal from its owner. But her niece discovers his plan and decides she wants in on it!!! From there, it becomes this dark, seductive game of secrets, greed, desire, and manipulation, where no one is exactly who they appear to be. It’s so good!!
