❤️ TODAY’S SICKLE CELL FACT Did you know Sickle Cell Disease can increase a child’s risk of having a STROKE? Sickled red blood cells can interfere with blood flow to the brain. For children with sickle cell anemia, a painless test called a Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound can identify those who have an increased risk of stroke. 🧠 THE IMPORTANT PART: Children ages 2–16 with sickle cell anemia are recommended to receive TCD screening every year. A simple screening can reveal a risk you may not be able to see. KNOW THE RISK. GET SCREENED.
